Dr Pye Chavasse (1810–79) – medical author
James Cooper, VC (1840–89) – soldier

Harry Gem (1819–81) – lawn tennis pioneer
There are also buried in the cemetery 51 Commonwealth servicemen of World War I and 13 from World War II.

One of it’s main features is the 2 tiers of catacombs, which were required by the ‘Birmingham cemeteries act’ of 1846 to be sealed with lead or pitch due to the unhealthy vapours and unpleasant smell emanating from them! These catacombs are home to John Baskerville, creator of the ‘Baskerville Typeface’.

Another witness claims to have spoken to a young man in an army style trench coat near the catacombs. During conversation, the young man referred to the Dudley Road Hospital as “The Infirmary”, a name not used for the hospital since 1948. When the witness walked away and turned to look again at the young man, he had disappeared.

Given that many times in Warstone’s history bodies were dug up and re-buried, it is little wonder the area is haunted. It was known in the early 18th century as ‘Dead Mans Lane’ and it is possible that at some point a Gallows would have been situated nearby. These were traditionally placed at cross-roads as they allowed un-consecrated burials, and one such cross road exists where the lane meets Icknield Street.

Experiences During Investigation: Visual Experience,Shadow Experience,Being Watched Experience

Experiences – Explanation: The feeling was heavy but not negative.
There we little fluctuations on EMF
Orbs where seen on camera
Some of the pictures taken on the night, are of interest + they do have shadows on them

Experiences – Explanation: Explanation: Many people saw shadows and some had the feeling of people being stood next to them.

There is one photograph that has yet to be explained – (0261 for reference) and when I get together with other team members, will report further.

Vigil Equipment Journal: Dowsing rods and crystals where very effective especially when standing near a grave/tombstone.
The gentleman was interesting and had served in Irac/Iran War and died through an injury or illness that he received during that war.We had two people with sets of rods – stood apart. We had the same answers on both sets of rods.Whilst using the rods, one lady said that her hands where nice and warm – when asked if it was the spirit, the reply was yes.

General Report: Overall, a very active night, with many shadows, feeling of being watched and having a fantastic results on the dowsing rods.

Many people said that they felt the temperature change from warm to cold and then back to warm.

Ghost Box Report: The ghost box was not that active, some voices but nothing significant.

* My theory behind this is – if you died many years ago, you may not know what a spirit box does or what it is, so the spirit will not communicate with through this equipment *

EMF Report: Small fluctuations/spikes in EMF through-out the night.

EMF Report: We did manage to ask the spirits to change the lights on the EMF which the did – only small spikes and not very powerful
